You can opt for removing the bathtub and replacing it with a totally new up-to-date marble, tile, or granite shower. The common problem with the standard shower pan is that they don't fit your space properly. But now with the new age techniques and designs there are four possible easy options how you can renovate your bathroom like a professional. Custom Shower Pans

The traditionally made mortar shower pan is always a good choice. The clue to have a traditional custom shower pan free of trouble is by using the vinyl waterproof membrane. The floor tiles are normally not waterproof. The water tickles especially through the grout. The trick is to use a vinyl membrane that is cast into the floor of the shower and seals the drain. A custom shower pan although takes a little longer to build but is most of the time cheaper than all other options. Custom shower pans can be built in any shape or size with the mortar base. The only hard part is that setting up a custom shower pan needs a lot more skill.

Fiberglass Shower Pans

Another custom shower pan is build using several shower components that makes up for a waterproof shower pan. The polyethylene membrane is the base to this type of system. The polyethylene membrane covers the sides as well the floors of the shower completely and is amalgamated with a special drain that serves for a complete vapor and water obstruction. The system is set up over a sloped base made of concrete or sometimes uses the available shower pan. The concrete base gives a lot of freedom in sizes and layout.
